Recognizing Croatian Innovation on a National Stage

The Most Innovative Startup in Croatia competition brings together businesses developing technological solutions and new approaches across different industries.

Held within the Days of Regional Development and EU Funds, the START UP Conference provides a platform for Croatian entrepreneurs to present their innovations and connect with representatives of the country’s business and innovation ecosystem.

Ice Rebus received first place in the Adriatic Croatia regional category before also securing the competition’s National Grand Prix.

For the team, the awards represent recognition of years of engineering, product development, and international experience.

Developing Ice Vending Technology

Ice Rebus’s journey began in Split, Croatia, with a focus on changing how people access and purchase ice.

Over the past years, the company has developed its own ice vending technology, combining hardware, software, and connected systems designed for unattended retail.

Today, Ice Rebus machines operate across more than 50 countries on six continents, serving different markets and retail environments.

The company’s work extends beyond machine manufacturing. Its engineering and software teams continuously develop and improve the technology behind the machines, including the proprietary V-CORE platform, which supports remote monitoring, operational management, and access to machine performance data.

This combination of hardware development, connected technology, and real-world operational experience remains central to Ice Rebus’s approach.

Innovation Is an Ongoing Process

For Ice Rebus, receiving a startup innovation award after more than 16 years in business reflects something important: innovation doesn’t end when a company moves beyond its early stages.

Technology continues to evolve, and so do the expectations of customers, retailers, and operators.

From improving machine performance and reliability to developing connected solutions that simplify operations, the Ice Rebus team continues to work on making ice vending more accessible, efficient, and convenient.

The company’s international presence also provides valuable operational experience, helping its teams understand how the technology performs across different markets, climates, and retail environments.

These insights inform ongoing research, development, and product improvements.

A Recognition for the People Behind Ice Rebus

Behind every Ice Rebus machine is a multidisciplinary team working across engineering, software development, research and development, production, operations, sales, and customer support.

The National Grand Prix and Adriatic Croatia awards recognize the collective work involved in developing, manufacturing, and supporting the company’s technology.

They also highlight the contribution of Croatian engineering and technical expertise to international retail technology markets.
